Valentine's Activities

Valentines is one of my favorite holidays, probably because I'm a girl, but I enjoy how it's all about love. Here are some of our Valentine events:

Thursday Alyssa had not only her Valentine party, but it doubled as a birthday party for Hailey. They made valentine purses to put their valentines in & then enjoyed pizza & cake.Thursday afternoon I was helping out at Zhara's school. Wed night they had a contest of which class had their door decorated best for the book fair that was going on & the class who one got to tape the principal, Mr. Steve, to the wall. The 3rd grade class won & after they taped him to the wall the other classes got to walk by & laugh at him. He was a good sport when the 1st grade class was out to P.E., he pulled himself off the wall & walked out to the playground, still attached to the paper he was duct taped to, so that they could see him. The kids loved it.Friday was Zhara's Valentine party. They decorated bags for their valentines Made a VERY large valentine card & tissues flowers for their teacher, who has thyroid cancer & has been gone for almost a month
Each table had a chance to pass our their valentines. It was cute to see how they would read each name on their cards & hand them out, with very little help from the moms.
They iced their own sugar cookies & of course Zhara had it ALL over her, but it was good!
Alyssa spent most of the morning at a friends house (I didn't want everyone to be getting valentines but her) but she came at the end & there is a little girls in the other kindergarten class that Alyssa just loves. She had a valentine stuffed bear for Alyssa & the teachers even made her valentines....does that mean she is at school too much?
David & I had our valentines on Friday night. The girls spent the night with my friend Carrie & we went to dinner, watched Blindside at the theater (we don't do that very often) & had ice cream. We enjoyed sleeping in on Saturday. It was so nice to spend time together & enjoy our love that is stronger than ever 7 years later.
The girls knew that Sunday was Valentines & Zhara remembers the fun day it was last year & so she was up early & had already walked through the rooms to come get me but they woke up to balloons outside their room.

They each had flowers & treats at the table. They got marshmallow lollipops & I had beautiful tulips & my very favorite peanut M&M's

We were watching our friend's dog for the weekend while they were away & she is a girl so David even had little flowers for Sophie at the table :)David was taught well by his father & always makes every girl feel that Valentines is just about her. It was a great weekend filled with love.

Zhara's reward

Zhara starts out each day with 20 dollars worth of Kachina Cash (they can spend this at the mini mall....see older posts) and when she does something she shouldn't, she loses them throughout the day. She went 10 days in a row without losing a single one. When she gets 5 in a row, we have an ice cream party but she has never gotten 10 in a row (there is always a day here & there when she loses a few) so we wanted to give her a big reward.....so she chose to go to Peter Piper Pizza, although she calls it Peter Piper Chicken because she hates pizza. We had a great time celebrating her success.Way to go Zhara!!!

Free Night at the Childrens Museum

On the first Friday of each month Target sponsor's a FREE night at the Children's Museum (which is normally 9 bucks a person). Although the wait was 50 minutes we enjoyed playing outside & we especially loved that Dad was with us.
They drew in the sand together....the girls were scooping the sand trying to keep it away from everyone else. Their very favorite part is the shopping/kitchen
Zhara baked me a pizza
Even Dad got in on being the bagger for someone else's kid :)Alyssa was the shopper, while Zhara was being the one who restocked the shelves. Zhara was so funny because she would yell out the window of the "back" of the store...."hey we're in a rush here" and she would run over to the checkout & grab the items to put in her basket to put back on the shelves. I think we might have a future grocer on our hands. They really enjoyed "finding" Daddy in the noodle forest when he would get lost. David's favorite part was the flying spiders at the end of the forest
Here is one of the biggest shoes I have ever seen

We had fun as a family....even if my kids didn't get to bed until almost 11 :)
