We decided to celebrate Father's day and Charlotte's first birthday up at the Grand Canyon. We decided this a little late and all the campgrounds close were full so we ended up about 45 min away at Dogg Town Lake. Grandma and Grandpa held down the fort until we got there. It was so nice to smell the pine trees and get away from the heat. We hadn't been camping since we moved here (and it happened to be in Grand Canyon) 5 years ago. This was our first camping trip with Haleigh and Charlotte so we weren't sure how it was going to go...especially since Charlotte wasn't quite walking yet.
They seemed to take to it well....and then it was time to put up our new 8 man tent. Only a 15 min set up time....turned into almost an hour.
And so dinner was in the dark....but that's what the fire is for right?
Of course it rained but only for a few minutes so we took shelter at the bus stop and waited it out.
We took Haleigh and Charlotte on their first bus ride
The girls wanted to come back at night to look at the starts through an amazing telescope...but it was too long a drive
Did I mention that Saturday morning Haleigh woke us all up at 4 am? After trying to get her to stop screaming and waking up the whole camp we gave up about 445 and David took the girls fishing and the rest of us hung out in the camper. We were all a bit tired.
We ended with celebrating Father's day with a breakfast...and breaking down camp. Two of the greatest men in my life.
