Christmas Eve

We spent Christmas Eve at our friends the Taylor's. We had an ugly sweater dinner party with a white elephant gift exchange. Alyssa enjoyed feeding the new baby and was proud of herself for putting him to sleep.....and I was the winner of the ugly sweater contest!

On Christmas Eve we usually act out the nativity story with home made costumes of towels and brooms and each year I have to look at the pictures to see who was Mary but this year Emily told the story with candles. It was a sweet way to finally feel like it was Christmas because the month prior felt like one big blur of activity.

We got home and Zhara had a meltdown about...what? I am not sure but it got her sent to bed and so Alyssa and Haleigh wrote notes to Santa and made him a plate which included carrots for the reindeer

So with the plate for Santa and the stocking all hung by the chimney....or hanging off a shelf...with care we were ready for St.....actually we were ready to spend the next 3 hours wrapping presents. We enjoyed the beautiful lights on the tree and watched National Lampoon's Christmas vacation and laughed about how much our life resembles the Griswalds.
