David has suffered from headaches since we moved to AZ and we always assumed they were just due to his sinus problems he has had since we came but after he turned 40....literally a day after his birthday he got an incredibly bad headache while trying to knee board. By the time we got home they were so painful that he went to the Dr the next day. She was very worried because with the symptoms he was having with high blood pressure and the headaches, his symptoms indicated pre stroke. Needless to say we were very worried. He got a blessing from a friend after the Dr appointment and we had an appointment with a neurologist the next day. It was a scary moment....how life could change in a moment. I felt like everything would be fine but when I said good night to him I prayed a little harder that he would be okay. We saw the neurologist and he told him that he was probably suffering from migraines but scheduled an MRI/MRA (and there is not enough space for me to type the ridiculous process this was. The neurologist was a jerk to say the least and his office help was not any better) and gave him some medicine to take to try to prevent the headaches and then to help with the pain. In the 10 years that I have been married to David he is very rarely sick and even when he is sick he just pushes through it but these migraines would knock him out for 3 days. It was hard to see him suffering and the girls were worried because they have never seen him sick. .
This is how you handle a migraine with homework that is due
David has had an MRI before and he is not claustrophobic but he said it was the longest 10 minutes of this life and so when he found out this MRI/MRA was 40 minutes he was a little nervous. He wanted to be sedated but we called to late for them to schedule but his prayer was answered and he made it through without panicking and even had time to think about things. We got the results right then on a disk and we gave it to one of our friends who is in his residency for neurology because the totally awesome neurologist we were going to wasn't going to see David for 3 weeks. We found out that everything in his brain looks fine which was a relief. Now onto finding out why the headaches are happening.
